Welcome To Breaking Rules Publishing

We celebrate the life of Roy Jeffers, an amazing poet, whose life was taken way too soon. On September 9, 2019, Roy was in a fatal motorcycle accident. His kind spirit and connection to his soul help to make Roy not only a wonderful human being but also a talented writer. All donations on this site will be put toward the Roy Jeffers Scholarship Fund for young poets, to encourage and foster their talent.

Roy's books of poetry and short story -

You can find Roy's books in the Breaking Rules Publishing Bookstore. The royalties from Roy's books will be split between the Point Foundation as well as Kidspeace. Two organizations dedicated to helping young people better their lives through education. Roy's generosity will live on in the children, and people that his words and work were meant to help. Thank you in advance for your donation and book purchase.

Short Story Book Program Details

Welcome aspiring authors, writers, and thank you for your interest in the Breaking Rules Publishing Short Story Book Project!

Our goal? To simply give writers a place to show their work. To join with other writers and offer them an opportunity to learn from their peers, show their work and join a collaborative to create a short story book. There will be many opportunities for the publication of these books to occur. Specific guidelines will be posted, beyond that, we encourage you to tell a story that matters to you. Write something you believe in. Tell a story in a way that only you can tell it. In other words, write something that moves you, that dazzles you, that says precisely what you want to say in precisely the way you want to say it. As long as you do so in the word limits indicated, and in the suggested theme.

The Story -

The Story is simple - on a dare from his 16 year old daughter, Sarah, Christopher Clawson-Rule wrote his first book. It took him 6 months to write it and 6 years to get it published. During that time he looked for an agent, found one. His reward?  She changed the entire story around into something that he didn't recognize. For a year he worked with her to try to get his book published without success. He then started submitting to every publisher that he could find. After 6 years of trying he finally found one willing to take a chance on him. Once his manuscript was published they sent him a copy and said - "Good luck, you're on your own."

Now, his goal is to not let that happen to other writers. Everyone should have a chance to get their work published, or be able to get the help they need to make it work. AND - publishers shouldn't just publish your book and then leave you hanging. Which is why - together - we'll create a team and a plan that will move you and your book toward success.

Our Mission - is to be the writer's publisher, create a writing community, provide encouragement, resources, competitions, and inspiration to writers, both young and not so young, at any writing level.

Our Goal - is to help any writer who has hopes to see and learn from others, as well as possibly become published.

What Drives Us - Writers that get lost in their own imagination, topics, and characters. Writers that have the nerve to look beyond, offer what they have within and are willing to break the rules.
